Looks like a mouse has chewed through at least four keys in this piano.

Such a work of art, that has the ability to last generations. A little care, doing a little each time, will keep this instrument performing for generations.

Large grooves in the hammers prevent the piano from hitting the strings correctly, leading to a dull sound. Luckily, this can be corrected through voicing, restoring your piano to a full, rich tone!

An absolutely beautiful antique old piano. I tuned this in a small rural town church. I have never seen anything quit like this, as it had several unique characteristics.

This is in a church, and the piano has an important upgrade; it has a humidification/dehumidification system installed on it. These systems are relatively affordable and can be installed on any piano. The system prolongs the tuning by stabilizing the sound board and counters the negative effects of climate control and the change of seasons. The system also protects the sound board from cracking in Montana's dry air.

This piano has hammers with missing felt, sticking hammers, and broken mutes, due to abuse. This is all serviceable, but the customer has to weigh the sentimental value versus the practical value.

A model of a grand piano action. I am borrowing this from a fellow piano technician so that I may further familiarize myself with the inner workings of this beautifully complicated instrument.

Over time, and with use, grooves form in the hammers and dampers. The dampers and hammers can be voiced, restoring the rich sound to your piano and bringing it back to life!

A spinet style piano with the action removed. Many of the hammers in the base section were damaged by a heavy object falling on the piano.

A well cared for instrument tuned for a customer who is passionate about her family being proficient and knowledgeable with music.

Note one of the tell-tale signs that your piano has ivory on the natural keys: there is a seam on the white key top that is parallel with the top of the black keys.

What a privilege to be able to tune this spinet. This instrument is being lent to a church, and one of the parishioners is having it tuned to preserve it in hopes that it will bless the owner and anyone who wishes to try it out.

It is so important to care for your piano.
